3D to showcase Nepal
Tourists wililing to come to Nepal from all over the world will now be able to visualize a real picture of famous tourism destinations of Nepal via the website in an advance three-dimensional (3D) system. This has been made possible in the partnership of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) with 3RD Planet, a Singapore based Company.
Mr. Prachanda Man Shrestha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NTB addressing a program organized on July 20, 2011, said that the new elements of motivation would be crucial to attract more tourists in Nepal.
According to him the project would be expanded to famous trekking and mountaineering destinations of Nepal.
3RD Planet is the first 3D online internet based company. The company has targeted to lunch their promotional website by the end of 2011. Nepal has been the first country to join hands with 3RD Planet for the tourism promotion.
Mr. Terence Mak, CEO, 3RD Planet said ha had chosen Nepal as a first country as it had many world famous tourism locations.

World safe for travelling: PATA
After assessing the situation in Japan, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has reaffirmed that the vast majority of the country is safe to travel to. Nearly all the parts of the country are now operating as normal, except for the tsunami area in the vicinity of the Fukushima nuclear plants, a press release issued by PATA said.
PATA’s Strategic Intelligence Centre has noted that inbound and outbound travel has also shown encouraging recovery signs.
The estimated foreign inbound figure for Japan in May was 358,000, up from 295,800 in April. Many Asian source markets such as Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Singapore produced better performances in May.

Nepal Participates at TTF Kolkata
The 88 th edition of Travel and Tourism Fair ( TTF), Kolkata concluded successfully on 18th July 2011 at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata in the presence of Honorable Minister of State for Tourism Mr. Sultan Ahmed. Nepal Tourism Board made its participation on the TTF along with the two private companies Nebuti travels and Hotel Grande Pokhara.
Nepal needs to position its image aggressively as it has an advantage of having open border which has made travelling easy and convenient. The success of this edition of Kolkata reinforces that TTF is one of the best travel shows of India in general and West Bengal in particular.

Nepal to host int'l judo championship
Nepal Judo Association (NJA) will host an international judo championship on July 29-30. The championship is the first of its kind in the South Asian region and is aimed at developing judo from the grass-roots level. The six participating nations are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.

8th National Technological Festival
Locus 2011 Committee, a group of students from the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering and Department of Electrical Engineering is organizing the 8th National Technological Festival LOCUS 2011 in Nepali capital Kathmandu on July 22-23 with the theme "Competition Builds Quality." The formal competitions in the list are: software project competition, hardware project competition, electrical project competitions, paper presentation, and technical quiz.

SMSH collaborates with QMU
Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management (SMSH) in Kathmandu and Queen Margaret University (QMU), Edinburgh collaborated to allow UK degree-level education in Hospitality and Tourism in Kathmandu. The QMU program will enable SMSH diploma graduates to continue their studies in Kathmandu after successful completion of which they will be awarded a BA(Bachelor’s) Degree in International Hospitality and Tourism Management.
